Join us for the 90s November Challenge

The 90s called. They want your kid to learn their music. So we’re hosting a 90s-themed practice and play challenge at ATL Music Lessons.

Here’s how it will work:

  • Eligibility

    • Open to all current students enrolled in lessons

    • Must submit official sign-up form to be eligible for prizes

    • One submission per student (though you can practice as many 90s songs as you want!)

  • Duration

    • Monday, November 3 - Friday, December 5, 2025

    • Video submissions accepted through December 5 at 11:59 PM

  • Song requirements

    • Song must be originally released between January 1, 1990 - December 31, 1999

    • Any genre accepted (pop, rock, R&B, hip-hop, country, alternative, etc.)

    • Any instrument or voice

    • Full song performance OR minimum 1-minute excerpt for longer pieces

  • Submissions

    • Submit via the submission form

    • Video must clearly show student performing

    • Quality doesn't have to be professional - we want to see YOU play!

    • Parent/guardian consent required for students under 18

    • All submission videos have the possibility of being posted publicly on our social channels

Winners will be announced at our WINTER RECITAL on December 13, 2025

Prizes:

  • 1st Place: YOU on your very own 90s album cover + a 90s album of your choice on VINYL + $50 gift card to use toward your lessons

  • 2nd Place: a 90s album of your choice on VINYL + $50 gift card to use toward your lessons

  • 3rd Place: $25 gift card to use toward lessons

Judging Criteria:

  • Effort and improvement (40%)

  • Musicality and expression (30%)

  • Creativity in song choice (20%)

  • Bonus points for posting & tagging us! (10%)

This is not a contest about being the most advanced or incredible musician; it’s about performing to the best of one’s ability, showing progress, and gaining confidence from a practice ritual.

All teachers will be helping participants with song choice and practice suggestions. Plus, we’ll be checking in via email to give you pep talks, reminders, and steps to succeed. Shortly after you sign up for the challenge, you’ll receive a list of 90s songs in each major genre category to spark your inspiration and some really serious nostalgia.
